Associazione Italiana Sommelier (AIS)
Discovering Wine would like to thank the Associazione Italiana Sommelier for its collaboration (AIS: Italian Sommelier Association). The English coursework has been prepared by the Italian Sommelier Association and will be presented by AIS professionals speakers.
About AIS:
AIS is a non-profit organization. It is recognized by the Italian Ministry and is accredited internationally. Its mission is to educate and strengthen the role of the sommelier and nurture wine culture. The association acts with cultural, educational and informative character in order to increase the cultural awareness of Italian wines.
For people living in Italy, the AIS offers a professional and competent sommelier course program in Italian, where one can learn more about the fascinating world of wine. It consists of three levels of coursework.
-
The first level significantly discusses such topics as viticulture, oenology, wine service and wine tasting techniques.
-
The second expands on Italian and international wines.
-
The third studies food/wine combinations.
All three levels build a solid foundation for wine tasting and critical evaluation. Each course involves about 16 2-hour lessons and can be completed in a year’s time (depending on course availability).
