Have you ever wanted to understand why you prefer one wine to another? Do you want to learn to identify the differences between wines and appreciate the various qualities? Have you ever wondered how the wines in the shops are really evaluated ? Let’s analyse and evaluate together. A good wine to you is great. A good wine to a sommelier is one that is well balanced, yet has qualities that stand out. What wines go best with which kinds of foods and why ?
The mission of this course is to provide knowledge and increase your appreciation for Italian culture and for wine…Il Bello del Vino (the beauty of wine).
- Learn to ‘see’ the wine, enjoy and identify the ‘aromas’ and differentiate the various ‘tastes’
- Take daily tours to vineyards and wine cellars
- different areas of the Tuscan region: Montalcino, Montepulciano, Chianti, Montagnola and Val di Merse, San Gimignano
- enjoy the beauty of the landscape
- see wine history and culture in process
- enjoy knowledge that is applicable to all wines
- get to know the various faces of the sangiovese grape that is so prevalent in Tuscany (Chianti, Brunello, Vino Nobile, Morellino di Scansano, Super Tuscans and many other wines)

- grapes varieties
- soils and terrain types
- climate factors
- wine making process
- the intricate care and choices of the wine maker
