Morning Departure |
The following is a more descriptive itinerary.
Saturday – Arrival day to your accommodations. Take a walk and explore. Evening Welcome Appetizer and Dinner.
Sunday - Your first day in Siena is a free day. We’ll organize a guided visit of Siena, so that we can feel and learn its history followed by lunch. In the afternoon we will take you through the majestic countryside to visit other wonders that gothic and renaissance artists have left behind. Dinner.
Monday – Lessons begin. We’ll start with discussions on wine tasting criteria. Teach the basics in recognizing quality color, scents, aromas, flavor and how to individualize separate textures in wine. We can discuss our first lesson further over a delicious Tuscan lunch. In the afternoon we’ll make our first winery visit in the Chianti area. Dinner.
Tuesday – Our second lesson discussion will be about what’s behind wine-making: wine history, terrain, climate factors, grape types and cellar activity. We’ll finish our lesson with a refreshing walk in a vineyard to see and feel the elements of the grape, followed by lunch and wine tasting. In the afternoon we’ll go explore the historic cellars of Montelpulciano and the Nobile Wine plus a pecorino cheese tasting in Pienza. Dinner.
Wednesday – This day is set a side to be a free day. You can choose to stay as a group or act individually. You can simply relax, take walks, site see, tour, enjoy a bike tour, horseback ride visit neighboring towns…etc.
Thursday – Our third lesson will look at some elementary ideas behind food and wine pairing. It will prepare us for a critical analysis of our lunch and wine tasting. It will also help us look at our afternoon cooking lesson from a different perspective. It’s not just the food, but the harmony of the ingredients and wine that pairs with it. Scrumptious dinner.
Friday – Our last lesson will explore further into grape varieties and the differences they offer. We will look at many of the Italian native grapes and their wines. Any last questions or comments? Lunch and relax. Our last lesson day will take us to historic Montalcino where the infamous Brunello wine is from. If time permits us, we’ll take anther side trip to visit an oil press and taste oils, taste chocolates or even taste the classical Sienese sweet panforte. Farewell dinner.
Saturday – Departure day – hope you enjoyed yourselves!
